Some reviewers and pundits are recommending caution or even avoidance because Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 8 (IE8) does not display some Web sites correctly. I continue to recommend IE8 even in those cases because the compatibility view almost always solves the problem.
Better yet, IE8 remembers that you selected compatibility view for a given site and thereafter automatically uses that mode unless you turn it off. You can also control which sites are included in the compatibility mode list by selecting "Compatibility View Settings" from the page menu - that dialog is clear and to the point.
Consult the "View any site with ease" section of Microsoft's IE8 page - there are explanations and videos.
